Product Description

A sharp durable bladed knife. Due to its ability to fold back into itself it is very easy to carry around in your case, enabling you to make quick adjustments to your reeds wherever you may be!

Ceramic blades are known to be nearly double the mineral hardness of normal steel which allows them to be honed to a very long lasting extra sharp edge. If you wish to sharpen your ceramic blade please use our very reasonably priced diamond sharpening stones (normal sharpening stones won't sharpen the blade and will in fact just wear away the stone!!) which you can find here.

Handle colour may vary.

Please note that ceramic blades are extremely hard and sharp and will stay sharp for a very long time, however, they are also brittle, meaning that if the ceramic blade experiences a hard impact (i.e. dropping the blade onto a hard floor, hitting it with a hammer, etc.) it may shatter.

very lightweight

Very sharp blade this is a great knife to keep in you case. The only downside is being so lightweight can take a lot of getting use do when scraping if like me you are bit more heavy-handed and used to a knife with a more solid handle

The handle does not click

The handle does not click open and in order to use at all you have to hold the blade. Not good design. Too cheap.

Dear Robin, I'm sorry to hear you don't like the Ceramic Reed knife. You are correct that the blade doesn't click into place when it is open however this shouldn't be a problem as when scraping reeds the pressure you are using to scrape the reeds easily holds the blade open - we use these knives and find that they work for our needs; we've never had a problem due to a lack of the blade locking open. If we did not believe they were suitable for the job we would not sell them. These knives are on the cheaper end of the scale and are the cheapest we sell but we do have a wide variety of other knives which you may find more suitable for your needs. Very best wishes, Matthew
